Bea's father Brian who was an equine vet, who was killed at the age of three when Bea turned three, was a suicide victim. The news of his passing at 13 years old. In honor of her father, she chose the stage-name Bea and, in the year 2017, she wrote an article on suicides in the family she was raised by for The Guardian. Bea as well as her sister Sinead were taken care of by their maternal grandmother Helen (nee Moloney) a secondary school teacher and jockey trainer, as well as a an ex-professional jockey. She and her family loved horses, race meetings and the racing industry. Bea spent her childhood as an instructor for the Irish National Stud. From a very young age, Bea knew that she did not want to pursue the racing industry. Instead, she was drawn to the artistic arts.
